# Organs

An organ is a structure made of two or more tissues that work together to perform a specific job — such as the kidneys filtering blood or the thyroid gland producing hormones.

Gray's Anatomy (1918) describes the major viscera of the abdomen, pelvis, and neck — kidneys, spleen, thyroid, adrenal glands, and the reproductive organs — noting the position, shape, and relations of each.
