# What is the brachioradialis?

It is called the brachioradialis. Gray's Anatomy (1918) describes it as a superficial muscle of the forearm.

## What it means

- A superficial muscle of the forearm.
- Runs down the thumb side of the forearm.
- Bends the elbow, especially when the forearm is in mid-position.

## Action steps

1. On the outer side of the forearm, between the elbow and the wrist.
2. Arises from the lower end of the humerus.
3. Inserts near the styloid process of the radius.
