It is called the brachialis. Gray's Anatomy (1918) describes it as a powerful elbow flexor lying beneath the biceps.
What it is

- Acts on the elbow regardless of forearm position.
Where it is
- On the front of the lower half of the humerus.
- Beneath the biceps.
- Inserts into the tuberosity and coronoid process of the ulna.
